HAPPY BIRTHDAY MICHAELINE

Michaeline is my sister in Christ. We started off high school not knowing each other very well, but ended it close, super close, through the bond of Jesus Christ.

Dear Mikey,

from our days of being strangers but "cool" with one another in high school, to members of our high school clique (Black Dahlia/ BSMJKJK), to both of us getting saved in April we have become closer. I love you more than I love myself. Praise God! God will use us in 2012. We will be a testament to His power, performing miracles of sheer wonder! I thank God for your life. Sorry this post was late lol.

Love you,

KhadijaLani

Laura Hackett - Magnificent Obsession

I love this song. It's so beautiful and romantic. It really exemplifies how our relationship with Christ needs to be intimate. We must know Him, and He must know us.

"Rightly I say, how I love Him."

Jesus Culture- One Thing Remains

Verse 1:
Higher than the mountains that I face
Stronger than the power of the grave
Constant in the trial and the change
One thing... Remains (repeat)

Chorus:
Your love never fails, never gives up
Never runs out on me (3x)

Verse 2:
On and on and on and on it goes
It overwhelms and satisfies my soul
And I never, ever, have to be afraid
One thing remains

Bridge:
In death, In life, I'm confident and
covered by the power of Your great love
My debt is paid, there's nothing that can
separate my heart from Your great love

Ephesians 4:19-27

"19 They have no sense of shame. They live for lustful pleasure and eagerly practice every kind of impurity.
20 But that isn’t what you learned about Christ.21 Since you have heard about Jesus and have learned the truth that comes from him,22 throw off your old sinful nature and your former way of life, which is corrupted by lust and deception.23 Instead, let the Spirit renew your thoughts and attitudes."

"..throw off your old sinful nature and your former way of life.."

That line is very powerful. When you have been saved, you accept being a follower of Christ. Your old sinful nature no longer has hold over you and no longer has dominion over you. You have to make a conscience effort to daily, hourly, and even minutely live for Christ and stop succumbing to the desires that the Devil is trying to tempt you with. Being saved doesn't necessarily mean that you are "home free," being saved means that your eyes are open and with this new knowledge of knowing that you can do anything through God because of His power and love, you must trust Him and love Him. It's a daily struggle because your flesh is constantly fighting against your spirit-man, the Christ that lives in you. You must literally "throw off" your sinful nature. Cast it off. It has no hold over you. If you continually sin, it's because you haven't yet realized this. You're still in the mentality that you are in bondage.

"24 Put on your new nature, created to be like God—truly righteous and holy.25 So stop telling lies. Let us tell our neighbors the truth, for we are all parts of the same body.26 And “don’t sin by letting anger control you.”t Don’t let the sun go down while you are still angry,
27 for anger gives a foothold to the devil."

"..for anger gives a foothold to the devil."

Speaking from personal experience, this is true. I was frustrated with God for not speaking to me, and angry because I thought that I was doing everything in my power to seek Him but I wasn't being rewarded within the time-frame that I had hoped for. So I decided to get back at God. To make Him angry...make Him upset. I just wanted Him to notice. But you see, it should have never gotten to that point. My frustration lead to anger and when that shift had occurred, the devil got a foothold. And from there, it just continued to grow. This past week has probably been the most tumultuous week in my Christian walk, but God delivered me. The devil has really been working hard, and I was too weak-willed to see that.

Moral of the story: Never be angry at God. Pay Satan no mind, do not give him the time of day. Just be faithful to the Lord and seek Him. Sincerely seek Him.

Happy Birthday Stephy!

I know I'm late, but my best friend Steph had a Birthdayyy! I love this girl with all my heart. We've been friends since middle school but we became closer when we went to two different high schools freshman year. I wouldn't change her or our entire friendship. I love her family too! It's funny how sometimes you meet people, and you don't even realize how much of an impact they've made on you.
Anyways, let me not get sentimental!
We had diner at Busboys & Poets and it was fabuloussss! Food was good, friends were good, atmosphere was good. It was a cool reunion coming back from college.

Mali Music- Glory to the Lamb

2 Timothy Chapter 2

2 Timothy 2

We are SOLDIERS of the MOST HIGH GOD. We do NOT belong here- "3Endure suffering along with me, as a good soldier of Christ Jesus.4 Soldiers don’t get tied up in the affairs of civilian life, for then they cannot please the officer who enlisted them."

  • We as Christians will suffer. It's inevitable. We will either be persecuted, verbally abused, physically abused, or what have you. Why? For two reasons,
  1. Jesus suffered for us so that we may have eternal life. Since our Lord was heavily persecuted and was intensely hated, so will we. We are made in His image. We are Christ followers and His message is both hated and adored. The message of love, repentance, and forgiveness hasn't changed. People will reject it, just as they did when they crucified Him because these people aren't yet ready to let go of their sinful lifestyles.
  2. Satan knows that he has already lost the war, but he wants to take as many POW or kill as many of Christ's side to ensure that others don't hear about the good news. Satan, in his futile attempts to try to inflict damage on the winning side, is working hard to kill us all, whether you are saved or you aren't. He wants as many people to suffer with him. Why? Because he lacks joy. He is rage. He is jealous of God's glory AND he is jealous of us. YES! Satan is burning with envy because God loves us and hates him, because God wants the best for us, even though we all fall short of the Lord's glory. Amazing isn't it?
But We Are Soldiers! There is a spiritual warfare going on and I choose to be on the winning side, and      by the grace of God, we will win souls! Amen! Like Paul said to Timothy, "Soldiers don’t get tied up in the affairs of civilian life," we do not belong in this world. We cannot "please the officer who [tried to] enlist" us, for he is Satan and we do not follow him. Thank God.

This is so beautiful to me: "9 And because I preach this Good News, I am suffering and have been chained like a criminal. But the word of God cannot be chained.
10 So I am willing to endure anything if it will bring salvation and eternal glory in Christ Jesus to those God has chosen.
11 This is a trustworthy saying:
If we die with him,
we will also live with him.
12 If we endure hardship,
we will reign with him.
If we deny him,
he will deny us.
13 If we are unfaithful,
he remains faithful,
for he cannot deny who he is."
Be careful and take heed. We are the body of Christ. Let's keep it healthy and without fault.
  • "16Avoid worthless, foolish talk that only leads to more godless behavior.17 This kind of talk spreads like cancer...
  • "22 Run from anything that stimulates youthful lusts. Instead, pursue righteous living, faithfulness, love, and peace. Enjoy the companionship of those who call on the Lord with pure hearts."
  • "23 Again I say, don’t get involved in foolish, ignorant arguments that only start fights.24 A servant of the Lord must not quarrel but must be kind to everyone, be able to teach, and be patient with difficult people.25 Gently instruct those who oppose the truth. Perhaps God will change those people’s hearts, and they will learn the truth."
When you don't know the Lord, you sin. You sin because Satan is your master and you are a slave to sin.
  • "26 Then they will come to their senses and escape from the devil’s trap. For they have been held captive by him to do whatever he wants."

2 Timothy Chapter 1

2 Timothy 1

Holy Spirit reference- "5 I remember your genuine faith, for you share the faith that first filled your grandmother Lois and your mother, Eunice. And I know that same faith continues strong in you. 6 This is why I remind you to fan into flames the spiritual gift God gave you when I laid my hands on you."

  • We should all "fan into the flames" of the spiritual gifts the Holy Spirit has given us. We should tap into it and use it as God deemed it fit. We have these gifts to be a light and bring people lost in darkenss to Christ. The fact that Paul referred to these gifts as flames only further proves the fact that we should be on fire for God. This fire should constantly burn brightly because the good Lord has given us these gifts and a zealous spirit so that we can proclaim the Good News to others.
Something to live by: "For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline. 8 So never be ashamed to tell others about our Lord."

  • Do NOT by any means allow the devil to lie to you and instill fear in your spirit. You are a bold member of the body of Christ. lol, you cannot be a shy Christian, it isn't possible. You are constantly proclaiming your faith to others, constantly declaring your testimony, and healing and casting out demons from people. WE REAL BOLD!

"9 For God saved us and called us to live a holy life. He did this, not because we deserved it, but because that was his plan from before the beginning of time—to show us his grace through Christ Jesus." Salvation is available to all. Sometimes you don't realize how much God has called you because you have hardened your heart against Him for fear of giving up your current, sinful lifestyle. I know I did. I wasn't "ready." But I had failed to realize that if I had died during that time, I SURE would not be ready for the pits of Hell.

Our God can do all things- "(10)...He broke the power of death and illuminated the way to life and immortality through the Good News."

  • What other God do you know did that for you? I know of none other.

Puffer Vests!

I love Puffer Vests! I have one that looks like the 1st one. Now I have a yellow one, courtesy of my best friend lol. I've been wearing the blue one since the 9th grade, when it wasn't cool to wear it. These vests keep you warm and are a stylish yet smart completion to any chill look. They're hot additions to this season's chill, active wear.
Work it outtt!

Men of Substance Pagent

Cornell's Le Femme De Substance held a male pageant called, Men of Substance. A lot of people were in attendance and it was very cool to see the guys we see on a day to day acting goofy and whatnot, really shine and perform their talents.
Smiles all around.

Magazine Preview Party

I went to a magazine preview party for which I performed a poem that I wrote for the magazine. It was fun and even though I was nervous, I still had a good time on stage.
Makeup: Bobbi Brown Bronzer, Revlon Purple Lipstick, NYC white eyeliner.
Hair: Natural- bantu knots

Half of my hair got wet so the half that looks different from the front is what my hair looks like when I don't do anything to it.

Cornell Homecoming

Going to an Ivy does have its perks. We got free t-shirts. I don't know what it is about Cornell, or maybe just college in general, but everyone and their mother will show up if there is mention of  a free t-shirt.
Homecoming was a day to remember. I have wonderful friends who made the most of every minute. What made Homecoming 2011 even greater was seeing people really excited and happy to see me even if they didn't know me. The feeling of camaraderie with my fellow Cornellians was pretty sweet. I enjoyed myself a great deal. Plus, we won our game against Bucknell. ^_^

Salutations
